What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has found an open circuit in the cable to the combustion fan. The heater cannot be started until the fault code has been erased. The cause is a broken cable or a connection with contact resistance, oxidation or looseness.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the cable between the heater control module and the combustion fan
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connections
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connectors at the fan and in the heater for loose, oxidised or unlatched contacts.
- 2Look for damage to the cable from the heater to the fan, such as chafing or breaks.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the fan is not broken. If it is, the cable needs to be repaired or replaced.
- 4Check that the fan wheel is not jammed or stuck and that it turns freely.
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the heater fan and listen for a buzzing sound. If it does not start, the fault is still present.
- 6If the wiring is in good condition, have a workshop check the fan and the heater control module.
