Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsV40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has registered too high a signal on the cable to the coolant pump. This points to a short to battery voltage or to a damaged pump. The heater cannot be started until the fault code has been erased.
Possible causes
- The cable between the heater control module and the coolant pump is short-circuited to battery voltage
- Damaged coolant pump
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the cable and connectors to the coolant pump for chafing, damage and corrosion.
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter: voltage on the pump cable means a short to positive.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the water pump and listen for a buzzing sound. If it does not start, the fault is still present.
- 4Replace the coolant pump if it is damaged, or have a workshop do it.
- 5If the wiring is in good condition, have a workshop check the pump and the heater control module.
