What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has found an open circuit in the cable to the coolant pump. The heater cannot be started until the fault code has been erased. The cause may be a broken cable, a connection with contact resistance or oxidation, or a damaged pump.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the cable between the heater control module and the coolant pump
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connections
- Damaged coolant pump
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check the connectors at the pump and in the heater for contact resistance, looseness and oxidation.
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the coolant pump is not broken. If it is, the cable needs to be repaired or replaced.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the water pump and listen for a buzzing sound. If it does not start, the fault is still present.
- 4If the wiring is in good condition but the pump does not run, it may be blocked. Replace the pump if it is damaged, or have a workshop do it.
- 5If you are unsure about the pump after these checks, have a workshop assess it with diagnostic equipment.
