What does this fault code mean?
There is an electrical fault on the pump motor in the coolant pump for the auxiliary heater, for example a short to battery voltage or an open circuit. The heater's function is blocked, and the heating in the cabin can be poor. The cause may be poor contact, an open circuit in the wiring or a damaged pump.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the wiring
- Wiring short-circuited to battery voltage
- Damaged coolant pump
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the auxiliary heater is intact.
- 2With the ignition off, check the connectors and wiring to the coolant pump for corrosion, damage and loose connections.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the pump is not broken and has no battery voltage when the ignition is off.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the water pump and listen for a buzzing sound. If it does not start, the fault is probably still present.
- 5Replace the coolant pump if it is damaged, or have a workshop do it after the wiring has been checked.
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment investigate further.
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor heating in the cabin
- The parking or auxiliary heater does not work when it is activated
What the fault can affect1
- The heater's function is blocked
