What does this fault code mean?
The heater body of the fuel preheater has an electrical fault, for example a short to battery voltage or an open circuit. The heater's function is blocked, and the heating in the cabin can be poor. The fault may lie in a loose connector, in the cable or in the fuel preheater itself.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connections
- Open circuit in the wiring
- Wiring short-circuited to battery voltage
- Damaged fuel preheater
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the auxiliary heater is intact.
- 2With the ignition off, look for corrosion and loose connectors at the fuel preheater.
- 3Look for visible damage to the cable to the fuel preheater, such as chafing or breaks.
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the fuel preheater is not broken and has no battery voltage when the ignition is off.
- 5Replace the fuel preheater if its connector or cable is damaged. If you are unsure, have a workshop assess it.
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop update the software in the auxiliary heater and investigate further.
