What does this fault code mean?
The fault code says a flame is registered too early, but in practice it means the combustion chamber is too hot even though the flame should be out. The control module switches the heater off and sets the fault code when the maximum ventilation time has been exceeded. Causes may be a blocked exhaust or intake system, a damaged flame sensor or a damaged fan.
Possible causes
- Blocked intake or exhaust system
- Damaged flame sensor
- Damaged combustion fan
- Defective cables and connections to the glow plug
- Damaged glow plug
What you can do
- 1Look over the air inlet and exhaust pipe for blockages such as leaves, snow or dirt, and clear whatever is blocking them.
- 2Check that the exhaust system is sealed. If there is leakage at a clamp, tighten the clamp or replace the part.
- 3Look for corrosion, damage and loose connections at the glow plug and at the fan connector. Replace the glow plug if its connector or cable is damaged.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the heater fan and listen for a buzzing sound. If no sound is heard, the fan is probably damaged.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop update the software in the auxiliary heater and investigate further.
Symptoms you may notice3
- Poor heating in the cabin
- The parking or auxiliary heater does not work when it is activated
- The parking heater does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The heater is switched off when ventilation takes too long
- The heater's function is blocked after several start attempts
