What does this fault code mean?
The flame goes out repeatedly during warm-up, in a way that is not permitted when the heater runs at half speed. The control module then switches the heater off. The fault may be caused by fuel problems such as a low level, a leak or air in the fuel, a blocked intake or exhaust system, or a dirty or damaged flame sensor.
Possible causes
- Car parked on a steep slope
- Low fuel level
- Leak, air or a blocked fuel system
- Damaged fuel pump
- Blocked intake or exhaust system
- Sooty or damaged flame sensor
What you can do
- 1Park the vehicle on level ground and try starting the heater again. A steep slope can make the flame go out.
- 2Check the fuel level in the tank and top up if it is low.
- 3Use gloves and safety goggles, as fuel can spill. With the ignition off, check the fuel lines for leaks.
- 4Inspect the air inlet and the exhaust pipe for obstructions and clear them. Tighten or replace a leaking clamp.
- 5Look at the flame sensor. If it is sooty or damaged, a workshop can clean or replace it.
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the fuel pump and the fuel supply.
Symptoms you may notice3
- Poor heating in the cabin
- The parking or auxiliary heater does not work when it is activated
- The parking heater does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The heater is switched off when the fault occurs
- The heater makes a new start attempt if it is activated again
