What does this fault code mean?
The fault code says the auxiliary heater is intended for a different fuel type than the car, meaning a diesel heater is fitted in a petrol car or the other way round. Until the fault is fixed and the code is erased, the heater cannot be activated. Warm-up may therefore be poor or slow.
Possible causes
- Diesel parking heater installed in a petrol-powered vehicle
- Petrol parking heater installed in a diesel-powered vehicle
What you can do
- 1Note the car's fuel type, then compare it with the label in the engine bay or on the heater to see which heater is fitted.
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the heater control module's coding and check that it matches the car's fuel type.
- 3If the wrong type of heater is fitted, the whole heater unit must be replaced. Have a workshop carry out the replacement.
- 4Have a workshop download the latest software to the heater once the coding has been checked.
Symptoms you may notice4
- The parking heater does not work
- The heat does not get hot enough in the front or rear section
- Warm-up is slow in the front or rear section
- The heater does not work with the temperature control
