What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has not received the vehicle configuration from the central electronic module after it was powered up, so it cannot compare the configuration. The cause may be an open circuit or a short in the communication wire, or poor contact in the connections. Fault-trace the central electronic module first.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the CAN network
- Communication wire short-circuited to ground
- Communication wire short-circuited to voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connections
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the connectors and CAN network wiring to the heater are intact, with no breaks, chafing or corrosion.
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes in the central electronic module first. Codes there may show why the heater gets no information.
- 3Have a workshop measure the communication wire between the control modules with diagnostic equipment.
- 4If the fault remains after checking connectors and wiring, have a workshop fault-trace the central electronic module.
Symptoms you may notice2
- Uneven temperature in the cabin
- The parking heater does not work
