What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has a configuration that does not suit the car. It compares its configuration with the one stored in the central electronic module, and the difference sets the fault code. This may be because the heater is intended for a different fuel type from the car, because the control module comes from another car, or because the vehicle configuration is wrong. The heater's function is blocked.
Possible causes
- The heater is intended for a petrol-engined car but has been fitted in a diesel car, or the other way round
- The heater control module is not intended for this car, for example a used module with other software or hardware
- The vehicle configuration from the central electronic module is incorrect
What you can do
- 1Check whether the heater is intended for the car's engine type, petrol or diesel, by reading the label on the heater.
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: erase the fault code, switch the ignition off for a while and switch it on again. Then check whether the code returns.
- 3If the wrong type of heater is fitted, have a workshop replace the whole heater unit.
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop download the correct software to the heater and, if needed, to the central electronic module.
