VOLVO
CPM-U300017 - Control Module. General Electrical Failures. Circuit voltage above threshold
System
Combustion Pre-heater Module (CPM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
7 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The heater control module has measured a system voltage that is too high, and the heater's function is blocked. The fault code is only relevant to investigate if it has been active for a long time in the same driving cycle, or if you notice the heater not working. In other cases the code does not show a real fault and can be erased.
Possible causes
- A battery charger or starter unit with the wrong charge voltage is connected
- Damaged charging system
What you can do
- 1If you have recently connected a battery charger or starter unit to the car, disconnect it and then erase the fault code.
- 2Check that the fuses for the heater are intact. Look in the car's manual to find where they are.
- 3Start the engine and measure the battery voltage with a multimeter. The voltage should be normal with the engine running. Too high a voltage points to a fault in the charging system.
- 4If the voltage is too high with the engine running, have a workshop check the charging system. Then test drive the car and see whether the code returns.
Symptoms you may notice2
- Poor heating in the cabin
- The parking heater does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The heater's function is blocked
