What does this fault code mean?
Position sensor 17 in the front roof section has not reached the expected value within the time the control module waits. The roof may then move slowly or not at all. The cause may be a damaged or displaced sensor, or a mechanical part preventing the roof from moving.
Possible causes
- Damaged position sensor
- Position sensor that has moved out of position
- A mechanical part prevents the roof from moving
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the position sensor is firmly seated and that the connectors are not oxidised or loose. Clean or tighten them.
- 2Inspect the sensor itself, looking for wear or damage. Also make sure the hardtop is undamaged, so that the detected part still reaches the sensor's range.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: run the roof back and forth and check that the position sensor value changes in live data.
- 4If the roof does not move and no fault is visible, have a workshop replace the position sensor and then calibrate the roof.
- 5After the work, check that the roof can be operated in both directions.
