What does this fault code mean?
Hall sensor 5 in the convertible roof has not reached the expected value within a certain time. The roof may then move slowly or not at all. If the fault code CRM-C022 is already stored, this code is not shown, so fault-trace that one first. The cause may be a damaged or displaced hall sensor, or a mechanical part preventing the roof from moving.
Possible causes
- Damaged hall sensor
- Hall sensor that has moved out of position
- A mechanical part prevents the roof from moving
What you can do
- 1With the ignition off, check that the hall sensor is firmly seated and that its connector is not oxidised or loose.
- 2Look over the hall sensor and note any wear or damage. Make sure the roof is not damaged so that the part the sensor should detect is kept out of its range.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: move an iron screw towards the hall sensor and check that the sensor value changes in live data.
- 4If the fault remains and the hall sensor is in order, have a workshop replace it.
- 5After the work, check that the roof can be operated in both directions.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The roof moves slowly or cannot be opened and closed
- A text window with a warning symbol or a text message on the display
