What does this fault code mean?
The convertible roof module (CRM) cannot communicate correctly on the CAN network. The fault can be an open circuit or short in the network wiring, but it can also come from a fault in another control module on the same part of the network. The control module may switch itself off until its power supply has been broken.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Internal fault in the roof control module (CRM)
- Internal fault in another control module on the same part of the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read out and clear the fault code and check whether it returns
- 2Check that the battery is charged and that the terminals are tight
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the other control modules, since a fault in another module can disturb the communication
- 4The CAN network is measured at several points and needs parts disconnected, so if the fault remains a workshop with diagnostic equipment should examine the network
Symptoms you may notice3
- The push button does not work
- No or limited roof operation
- The radio antenna does not extend or retract

- The control module switches itself off (bus-off)
- The control module stays off until its power supply has been broken
