Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The DC/DC converter control module has at some point recorded that its switched power supply was outside the permitted range. The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic: it has occurred but may not be present right now. A break in the wire or an incorrect voltage can be behind it. The code is tested when the ignition is switched on. Because the converter is part of the high voltage system, charging of the high voltage battery is affected.
Possible causes
- Break in the signal wire
- Incorrect voltage
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off, wait a moment and switch it on again. If the warning clears and does not return, the fault may have been temporary
- 2Read and note the code, clear it and drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 3Have a workshop check the supply to the DC/DC converter and its ground point for breaks, contact resistance and oxidation, especially if the fault returns
- 4The high voltage system may only be handled by qualified personnel. Do not make any changes to the converter or its wiring yourself
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and message that come and go in the display
- The high voltage battery does not charge, or charging is reduced while driving at times
- Drive modes PURE, SAVE and AWD disengage automatically or cannot be selected
- Hybrid mode is forced and the combustion engine runs too often
What the fault can affect2
- No charging of the high voltage battery
- Hybrid drive mode is forced
