Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The DC/DC converter control module has detected excessive voltage on the ground connection. This can be caused by a short circuit to the battery or by a short circuit between wires in the circuit. The code is tested when the ignition is on and the voltage conversion is active, and it is only stored once the fault is confirmed. Charging of the high voltage battery is affected.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to the battery
- Short circuit between wires in the circuit
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off, wait a moment and switch it on again. Then check whether the code returns
- 2If you have your own scan tool, clear the code and drive the car briefly to see whether it comes back
- 3Have a workshop check the ground connection and ground point for contact resistance and oxidation, and look for short circuits between the wires
- 4The high voltage system may only be handled by qualified personnel. Do not work on the ground connection or the converter wiring yourself
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and message in the display
- The high voltage battery does not charge, or charging is reduced while driving
- Drive modes PURE, SAVE and AWD disengage automatically or cannot be selected
- The combustion engine runs too often in HYBRID mode
What the fault can affect2
- The high voltage battery is not charged
- Hybrid drive mode is forced
