DCDC-P0C3800 - DC/DC Converter Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit. General Failure Information. No sub type information

    System

    Unknown System / Manufacturer Specific

Volvo models this fault code applies to

    Applies to the following models:

    1 model

    V60 (2011–)

Show models by year and engine (2)
    • Volvo V60 (2011–)2013–2014Engine D82PHEV only
    • Volvo V60 (2011–)2015Engine D82PHEV, D87PHEV only

What does this fault code mean?

The DC/DC converter control module has registered that the temperature of the power stage in the high voltage system is outside the valid range. The cause may be a faulty temperature sensor in the control module, but also a short to ground or to the battery in the sensor circuit. Charging of the high voltage battery is affected, because the converter is part of the system.

    Possible causes

    • Short circuit to ground in the sensor circuit
    • Short circuit to the battery in the sensor circuit
    • Temperature outside the valid range
    • Faulty temperature sensor in the DC/DC converter control module

    What you can do

    1. 1Give the car time to cool or warm up until the converter temperature is within the normal range, then switch the ignition off and on again
    2. 2If you have a scan tool, follow the DC/DC converter temperature in live data while the car cools or warms up, and check that the reading changes smoothly
    3. 3Have a workshop check the converter temperature and the cooling circuit, and the sensor circuit for a short to ground or to the battery
    4. 4The high voltage system may only be handled by qualified personnel. Do not make your own changes to the converter's cooling or wiring

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • Warning symbol and message in the display
    • The high voltage battery does not charge, or charging is reduced while driving
    • The high voltage battery discharges or charges poorly
    • Hybrid mode is forced and the combustion engine runs too often

    What the fault can affect2

    • No charging of the high voltage battery
    • Hybrid drive mode is forced

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
