What does this fault code mean?
The DC/DC converter control module has lost contact with the other control modules on the high speed CAN bus. The modules exchange information continuously, and when replies fail to arrive within the time limit the code is set. The fault is generic and gives no further detail. The cause may be a break in the bus or CAN wires shorted to voltage or ground. Charging of the high voltage battery is affected.
Possible causes
- Break in the CAN bus
- CAN wires shorted to voltage or ground
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off, wait a moment and switch it on again, then check whether the warning returns
- 2If several control modules show faults at the same time, the problem may be on the bus rather than in the converter module
- 3Have a workshop check the CAN wiring and the connectors to other control modules for breaks and for short circuits to voltage or ground
- 4The high voltage system may only be handled by qualified personnel. Do not work on the CAN wiring or the converter's wiring yourself
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and message in the display
- Charging of the high voltage battery is absent or reduced while driving
- Drive modes PURE, SAVE and AWD disengage automatically or cannot be selected
- Hybrid mode is forced and the combustion engine runs too often
What the fault can affect2
- No charging of the high voltage battery
- Hybrid drive mode is forced
