What does this fault code mean?
The DC/DC converter control module has detected incorrect communication on the high speed CAN bus. The fault is a short on the bus: one of the bus wires has contact with the other, or with voltage or ground. The fault is generic and gives no further detail on its type. Because the converter is part of the high voltage system, charging of the high voltage battery is affected.
Possible causes
- CAN wires shorted to each other
- CAN wires shorted to voltage or ground
What you can do
- 1Switch the ignition off, wait a moment and switch it on again, then see whether the code returns
- 2If other control modules in the car also store codes, the short may be on the bus itself
- 3Have a workshop check the HS-CAN wiring for shorts between the wires, to voltage and to ground, using suitable equipment
- 4Leave all checks of the CAN wiring close to the converter to qualified high voltage personnel
Symptoms you may notice4
- Warning symbol and message in the display
- Charging of the high voltage battery is absent or reduced while driving
- The high voltage battery discharges or charges poorly
- Hybrid mode is forced and the combustion engine runs too often
What the fault can affect2
- No charging of the high voltage battery
- Hybrid drive mode is forced
