DDM-B12B615 - Front Lock Motor Common Circuit. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery or open
System
Driver Door Module (DDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The door module supplies the central locking motor and the motor for the locked-locking function through a common output. The fault is stored when the motors either draw no current at all or draw too much, for example if a wire is broken or has contact with supply voltage. It is also stored if a motor draws current although no lock command has been given.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the connectors
- Break in the wire running from the module to the central locking motor or to the blocked-lock motor
- The wire to one of the motors is short-circuited to supply voltage or ground
- The common wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- A fault in one of the motors that stores its own code and should be diagnosed first
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the door module: if there are codes for the central locking motor or the locked-locking motor, diagnose them first and then check whether this code returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Test the central locking with the key and the button and see whether any motor moves
- 4Inspect the wiring to the door and the connectors to the door module for chafing, pinching and moisture
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wires have no break and no contact with supply voltage or ground
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the door module and the motors
Symptoms you may notice3
- Central locking does not work, the doors cannot be locked or unlocked
- The mirrors cannot be adjusted electrically
- The mirrors cannot be folded in
What the fault can affect1
- Folding and electric adjustment of the mirrors are blocked to avoid the car being locked by mistake
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
