DDM-B12DC02 - Front Window Motion/Position Sensor. General Failure Information. General signal failure
System
Driver Door Module (DDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver and passenger door modules read the Hall sensor in the window lift, which measures how fast the window moves and therefore where it is. The fault is stored when the signal from the sensor is wrong while the window moves. This can be caused by a wire with contact to supply voltage or ground, a broken wire, a poor connection or a damaged sensor. The automatic window operation is then blocked.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the connectors
- Damaged Hall sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Test the window up and down with the switch and see whether it moves smoothly all the way
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the window position in live data while the window moves and check that the value changes smoothly
- 4Check the connector and the cable to the window lift in the door for moisture, oxidation and chafing
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not broken and has no contact with supply voltage or ground
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the Hall sensor and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- The window lift does not work, works only partly or works incorrectly
What the fault can affect1
- The control module blocks automatic window operation
