What does this fault code mean?

For automatic window operation to work, the module must know the end positions of the window and how much force the window lift needs. If it loses these values, for example if the window has been moved too far or handled by hand, automatic operation of the rear window stops working. The fault is cleared by initializing the window again, and the code is erased by itself once initialization is complete.

    Possible causes

    • The window has been moved too far beyond the previously learned end position
    • The window position setting has been lost due to a voltage drop while the window lift was activated
    • The window has been moved by hand in the lift mechanism, for example during a workshop visit
    • Initialization has been interrupted by pressing the window switch
    • The window movement has been obstructed when moving down, or the resistance of the lift has changed, for example because window seals are bent or the door is out of shape
    • The Hall sensor gives an incorrect signal, or the CEM has sent an incorrect window configuration

    What you can do

    1. 1Initialize the window: run it manually up to the top position with the switch and then down to the bottom position, so the module learns the end positions
    2. 2Check that nothing mechanically obstructs the window or deformed window seals when it moves
    3. 3Check that the window moves smoothly all the way when you operate it with the switch
    4. 4If initialization does not help, diagnose the fault codes that are present and then initialize the window again
    5. 5Automatic initialization should only be done by a workshop, because the window is then pushed up with considerable force and there is a risk of pinching
    6. 6After the work, check that automatic operation works

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • Automatic window operation for the rear window does not work

    What the fault can affect1

    • Automatic window operation is blocked

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
