What does this fault code mean?
Each mirror is adjusted sideways and up or down by two motors. The driver door module reads the position sensor, a potentiometer, which registers the up and down position of the mirror. The fault is stored when the signal from the potentiometer is too low, which is caused by the signal wire having contact with ground or being broken.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the mirror height position in live data while moving the mirror up and down
- 3Inspect the cable to the mirror for chafing and pinching
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground and is not broken
- 5Check the connectors in the door and at the mirror base for moisture and oxidation
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module and the mirror
Symptoms you may notice1
- Operation of the outer mirror does not work
