What does this fault code mean?
The driver door module communicates with the other control modules over the CAN network. The fault is stored when a serious disturbance blocks communication on the network. The cause may lie in the wiring, in the driver door module or in another module on the same part of the network, so fault finding has to be done step by step.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Internal fault in the module
- Internal fault in another module on the same part of the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and diagnose them first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connectors in the driver door and the wiring harness between the door and the car's network for chafing, pinching and moisture
- 4Note which functions still work and which do not, as this shows which parts of the network are affected
- 5Check whether other modules also have communication faults at the same time, and if so diagnose the codes in the CEM first
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure on the CAN network and determine which module disturbs the communication
Symptoms you may notice3
- The control panel in the driver door does not work
- The automatic closing of the windows does not work
- The car cannot be operated with the remote control
What the fault can affect2
- The module switches itself off and stays off until the power supply is disconnected and reconnected
- At the next power-on the module tries to communicate again
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
