DDM-E003 - Configuration fault. Faulty configuration
System
Driver Door Module (DDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver door module compares its own configuration ID with the configuration that the central electronic module (CEM) sends out on the CAN network. The fault is stored when they do not match, or when communication with the CEM is interrupted. It can occur if the module is not intended for this particular car, for example if it is second-hand and has different software or hardware.
Possible causes
- Incorrect CAN configuration ID, because the module is not intended for this car
- Open circuit in the CAN wires between the module and the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and diagnose them first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3If the module has been replaced or is second-hand, this is an important clue, because a module from another car may have the wrong software
- 4Check that the wires between the driver door and the CEM show no visible damage and that the connectors are secure
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop load the correct software into the module, or replace the module if it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice3
- The control panel in the driver door does not work
- The automatic closing of the windows does not work
- The car cannot be operated with the remote control
