What does this fault code mean?
The driver door module is connected to the MS-CAN, a medium-speed network in the car. The fault is stored when communication on the network is disturbed, either by another module sending incorrect messages or by the module's own messages disturbing the network. Because several modules share the network, the fault may be located in several different places.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Internal fault in another module on the same part of the CAN network
- Internal fault in the module
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the car, especially in the central electronic module (CEM), and diagnose them first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Flex and bend the wiring mat in the door and at the connectors, and see whether the fault appears or disappears, since an intermittent break often shows this way
- 4Check the connectors in the door and at the mirror base for moisture and oxidation
- 5Note which functions stop working, as this gives a clue to which part of the network is affected
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure on the network and determine which module disturbs the communication
Symptoms you may notice3
- The memory function for the outer mirror does not work
- The electric window lift does not work
- The operation of the outer mirror does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The module switches itself off and stays off until the power supply has been disconnected
- At the next power-on the module tries to communicate again
