What does this fault code mean?
The driver door module communicates on MS-CAN and has switched off its communication (bus-off). The fault is stored when communication with the central electronic module (CEM) has been interrupted. The cause may be an open circuit or short circuit between the CAN wires, or a poor connection in the connections. The module may need to be without power for a long time before it can communicate again.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the contacts or connections
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and diagnose them first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connectors in the door and at the cable entry for oxidation and loose connections
- 4Gently shake the wires and pull lightly on the connectors during the check, to see whether the fault returns
- 5If the fault is intermittent, clear the code and check that it does not reappear
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop load new software into the module if it is faulty, and check the wiring in the CAN network
Symptoms you may notice5
- Central locking does not work, the doors cannot be locked or unlocked
- The child safety lock in the rear doors does not work
- The window lift does not work, works only partly or works incorrectly
- The mirrors cannot be adjusted electrically
- The illumination of the switch panel or the approach lighting does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The module switches itself off and stays off until the power supply has been disconnected
- It can take a long time before the module can communicate again after a fault
