System
Driver Door Module (DDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver or passenger door module keeps getting its data from the central electronic module (CEM) and checks that the link is alive. The fault is stored when communication with the CEM is absent, which can be caused by a break, a short circuit or a poor connection in the communication wire, or by a fault in the CEM or in the network. Several door functions then do not work.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the communication wire
- The communication wire is short-circuited to ground or supply voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit in the connections
- The fault may lie in the central electronic module (CEM), which should be diagnosed first
- If several modules also have communication faults, there is probably a common fault in the CAN network
- The module is not intended for the car, for example a second-hand module with different software
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and diagnose them first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check that the connectors in the front door are secure and free from moisture and oxidation
- 4Inspect the wiring harness between the driver door and the CEM for chafing, pinching and visible damage
- 5Check whether several modules have communication faults at the same time, and if so diagnose the codes in the CEM first
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure on the CAN network and check that the module is intended for the car
Symptoms you may notice5
- Central locking does not work, the doors cannot be locked or unlocked
- The window lift does not work, works only partly or works incorrectly
- The mirrors cannot be adjusted electrically or folded in
- The child safety lock in the doors does not work
- Warning lamps light up or behave abnormally
