System
Driver Door Module (DDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver door module communicates with the instrument cluster over the CAN network, and the fault is stored when this communication is disturbed or absent. The code points to a fault in the communication over the network, not to a single module.
Possible causes
- No supply voltage to the instrument cluster
- Break in the earth wire to the instrument cluster
- Open circuit or short circuit in the CAN wires
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the connections
- The instrument cluster is not intended for this car, for example if it is second-hand with different software or hardware
- A common fault in the CAN network, if several modules also have communication faults
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM) and diagnose them first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check that the earth connection to the instrument cluster is secure and clean
- 4Check that the connectors in the CAN network are secure and free from moisture and oxidation
- 5Do not replace any module just because of this code, as a module should only be replaced if the diagnosis shows that it is damaged
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure on the CAN network
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
