What does this fault code mean?
The driver or passenger door module (DDM/PDM) receives the power supply status from the central electronic control module (CEM) and has found that its quality is too poor to use. The code is labelled BCM, but the signal comes from the CEM. It is a follow-on code: the fault in the CEM should be fixed first, after which the code can be erased.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronic control module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and note the codes in all control modules so you can see which ones are stored
- 2Check that the fuses are intact and that the battery is well charged
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the power supply status of the CEM in live data and check that the value changes when you switch the ignition off and on
- 4Fix the fault in the CEM first, as this code only shows that the signal from it is wrong
- 5Erase the code once the root fault is fixed, then road test the car to confirm it does not come back
- 6If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CEM and the communication from it
Symptoms you may notice2
- Electric adjustment of the door mirrors does not work
- The window lift is inoperative, reduced or behaves incorrectly
