What does this fault code mean?
The driver or passenger door module (DDM/PDM) controls the illumination of the switch panels. The code is stored when the current on the illumination output becomes too high, which points to the supply wire being shorted to ground. As a result, the lighting in the switches goes out because the supply to the output is cut.
Possible causes
- Supply wire to the illumination shorted to ground
- Moisture or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check which switches in the doors lack illumination, so you can see whether one or more are affected
- 4Check the wiring and connectors in the door for chafing, pinching, moisture and corrosion
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the switch panel has no contact with ground (the body) when it is disconnected
- 6If the code comes back, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module and the wiring to the switch panels
Symptoms you may notice1
- The switch panel illumination does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The power supply to the switch illumination stops
