DDM-U201015 - Switch Illumination. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery or open
System
Driver Door Module (DDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver or passenger door module (DDM/PDM) controls the illumination of the switch panels. The code is stored when the current on the illumination output is too low, which can be caused by an open wire or a short to battery voltage. The result is that the switch lighting does not light as it should.
Possible causes
- Open circuit, meaning a break in the illumination wiring
- Short to battery voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check which switches lack illumination or have weak illumination, so you can see whether one or more are affected
- 4Check that the connectors in the door are secure and free from oxidation, as loose connections cause too low a current
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the illumination wire is intact between the control module and the switch and has no contact with battery voltage
- 6If the code comes back, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control module and the wiring to the switch panels
Symptoms you may notice1
- The switch panel illumination does not light or is dimmer than normal
