Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver door module (DDM) has not received a message from the switch panel in the driver door over the LIN communication, although one should arrive. The fault points to an interrupted or shorted communication wire or a poor connection. Because the controls cannot be read, several driver door functions stop working.
Possible causes
- Break in the communication wire
- Communication wire shorted to ground or to voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Test the driver door functions one at a time and note whether all the controls have stopped or only some
- 4Check the connectors and the wire between the switch panel and the door module for loose connections, chafing and corrosion
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the communication wire has no contact with ground (the body) when it is disconnected at both ends
- 6If the code comes back, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the LIN communication wire
Symptoms you may notice4
- Electric adjustment of the door mirrors does not work
- The window lift is inoperative, reduced or behaves incorrectly
- Locking and unlocking with the central locking does not work
- The child lock in the door does not work
