What does this fault code mean?
The driver or passenger door module (DDM/PDM) should receive the vehicle's configuration data from the central electronic control module (CEM) over the CAN network. The code is stored when that information is missing, or when a wrong value persists for too long. The fault points to a communication problem with the CEM, so troubleshooting starts there. The code is erased automatically when the configuration arrives again.
Possible causes
- Break in the CAN network
- Communication wire shorted to ground or to voltage
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and note the codes in all control modules, since several codes can be related
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connectors in the driver door and at the central electronic control module (CEM) for loose contacts, chafing and corrosion
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the communication wires have no contact with ground (the body) when they are disconnected at both ends
- 5If the code does not clear, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the CAN network and the CEM
Symptoms you may notice5
- The child lock does not work
- Locking and unlocking with the central locking does not work
- Electric adjustment of the door mirrors does not work
- The window lift is inoperative, reduced or behaves incorrectly
- Automatic memory adjustment of the door mirrors does not work
