What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) calculates the oil pressure that should exist when the engine runs above a certain speed and compares it with the signal from the oil pressure sensor. The code is stored when the signal corresponds to a pressure outside reasonable limits, either too low or too high. The four-wheel drive is then blocked or disengaged.
Possible causes
- Damaged oil pressure sensor
- Faulty or damaged four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the oil pressure at idle and check that the value changes during a road test
- 4Check the connector between the control module and the oil pressure sensor for contact resistance and oxidation, and look for oil leaks at the four-wheel drive clutch
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment road test the car on a lift, check the pressure and replace the control module if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The four-wheel drive does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The four-wheel drive is blocked
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
