What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) checks the signal from the feed pump and compares it with predefined limits. The code is stored when the signal is outside them while the engine runs and the speed is high enough. The fault may lie in the pump, in its wiring harness or in the control module, and meanwhile the four-wheel drive is blocked or disengaged.
Possible causes
- Faulty or damaged feed pump
- Damaged wiring harness to the feed pump
- Short to ground, giving too high a signal
- Break in the supply voltage, giving too low a signal
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Switch on the ignition and listen for the four-wheel drive pump motor to start; it should hum and vibrate slightly. If it starts normally, the fault is not active right now
- 4Check that the connector to the feed pump is secure and free from oxidation, and that the wire is not chafed
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check and replace the feed pump or the four-wheel drive control module if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The four-wheel drive does not work
What the fault can affect2
- The four-wheel drive is blocked
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
