What does this fault code mean?

The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) has a converter that turns signals into digital values, and it compares the converter result with the analogue supply voltage. The code is stored when the two differ unreasonably, which means the converter is not working. The fault lies in the control module, so if it returns, the control module is what needs replacing.

    Possible causes

    • Internal fault where the converter has stopped working

    What you can do

    1. 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
    2. 2Check that the fuses are intact
    3. 3If the fault has only occurred once and does not return, keep an eye on the car for a while
    4. 4If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check and replace the four-wheel drive control module

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • The four-wheel drive does not work

    What the fault can affect1

    • The four-wheel drive is disengaged

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
