What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the oil pressure pump for the four-wheel drive, although it is titled pump motor. The control module (DEM) compares the current through the pump with predefined limits, and that current depends partly on the oil temperature. The code is stored when the current is too low over several drives in a row. The fault is normally not noticed by the driver, but it may still need attention.
Possible causes
- Damaged connector between the oil pressure pump and the four-wheel drive control module
- Oil level too low in the clutch
- Supply wire shorted to ground
- Damaged oil pressure pump
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the oil level in the clutch (AOC unit)
- 3Check that the connector between the oil pressure pump and the control module is secure and free from damage, loose contact and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire has no contact with ground (the body) when it is disconnected
- 5If no fault is found and the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check and replace the oil pressure pump
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
