What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) compares its own supply voltage with the voltage supplied to the central electronic control module (CEM), and the CEM voltage information arrives over the CAN network. The code is stored when the difference lasts too long. The cause may be an incorrect supply voltage to the CEM or poor contact in the connectors, and the four-wheel drive is then disengaged.
Possible causes
- Incorrect supply voltage to the central electronic control module (CEM)
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact and that the battery is well charged
- 3Check the connectors to the central electronic control module (CEM) for oxidation and loose contacts
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the voltage at the four-wheel drive control module and at the CEM with the ignition on; they should be roughly equal
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the supply voltage and the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- Four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive do not work
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
