What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) continuously monitors that the voltage supplied to it is reasonable. The code is stored when the voltage is too high, which can be caused by excessive charging voltage from a damaged alternator. The four-wheel drive is disengaged while the fault is present and for a short time afterwards.
Possible causes
- Damaged alternator
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the control module voltage with the ignition on; it should be close to the battery voltage. Then start the engine and read it again
- 4If the voltage rises too much while the engine runs, have a workshop check the alternator charging
- 5After replacing the four-wheel drive control module, the oil pressure pump or the clutch package, the control module must be calibrated, which a workshop should do
Symptoms you may notice2
- The four-wheel drive does not work
- Warning symbol and message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged while the fault is present and for a short time after it has cleared
