What does this fault code mean?
The module monitors whether the oil temperature sensor signal stays at a sensible level. The code is stored when the signal is missing or too low, which can be caused by a break or a short to voltage in the signal wire, or by a damaged sensor. The four-wheel drive is disengaged while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
- Break or short to voltage in the signal wire
- Damaged oil pressure and oil temperature sensor
- Damaged temperature sensor in the control module
- Damaged four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector to the oil temperature sensor for oxidation and loose contacts, and look for chafing or pinching in the wire
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with battery voltage when it is disconnected at both ends
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and replace the four-wheel drive control module if needed
Symptoms you may notice2
- The four-wheel drive does not work
- Warning symbol and message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
