DEM-P074812 - Pressure Control Solenoid A Electrical. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System
Differential Electronic Module (DEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) controls the control valve, the axial solenoid, by regulating the current. The code is stored when the current falls outside the permitted limits with the engine running. Here the cause may be a signal wire shorted to voltage, but also a damaged valve, poor contact or a damaged control module. The four-wheel drive is disengaged.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
- Damaged control valve or axial solenoid
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector at the control valve for damage, oxidation and signs that the wire has contact with voltage
- 4If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment replace the control valve and the control module, as they belong together and are replaced together
Symptoms you may notice2
- Four-wheel drive does not work
- Warning symbol and message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
