DEM-P074814 - Pressure Control Solenoid A Electrical. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground or open
System
Differential Electronic Module (DEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
3 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–), XC70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (3)
What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) controls pressure control solenoid A by regulating the current. The code is stored when the current to the solenoid falls outside the permitted limits with the engine running. This can be caused by a signal wire shorted to ground or by a break in the voltage supply wire. The four-wheel drive is disengaged.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Break in the voltage supply wire
- Damaged four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the wires to the solenoid and the control module for damage, chafing and signs that they touch the body
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground (the body) when it is disconnected
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check and replace the four-wheel drive control module if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The four-wheel drive does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
