DEM-P093711 - Oil temperature sensor circuit. General electrical fault. Short circuit to ground
System
Differential Electronic Module (DEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–), XC70 (2008–), XC90 (2003–)
Show models by year and engine (6)
What does this fault code mean?
The module judges whether the oil temperature sensor reading is believable. The code is stored when the signal falls below the lowest permitted value, which here may be caused by a short to ground in the sensor circuit. Poor contact or a damaged sensor may also be the cause. The four-wheel drive is disengaged while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged temperature sensor
- Damaged control module
- Damaged oil pressure and oil temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector between the control module and the temperature sensor for oxidation and loose contacts
- 3Check that the wire to the sensor does not touch the body and is not chafed
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the sensor wire has no contact with ground (the body) when it is disconnected
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment read the sensor signal and replace the sensor or the control module if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The four-wheel drive does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
