What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) controls the oil pressure valve by regulating the current. The code is stored when the current falls outside the permitted limits, here linked to a signal wire that has contact with voltage. The cause may also be a damaged valve, poor contact or a damaged control module. The four-wheel drive is disengaged.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged control valve or axial solenoid
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3Check the connector at the control valve for damage, oxidation and signs that the wire has received voltage where it should not
- 4If the code returns or the connector is damaged, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment replace the control valve and the control module, as they are replaced as one unit
Symptoms you may notice2
- The four-wheel drive does not work
- Warning symbol and message in the display
What the fault can affect1
