What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) controls the control valve, the axial solenoid, by regulating the current. The code is stored when the current stays outside the permitted values for a longer period, which can be caused by a damaged valve, poor contact or a damaged control module. The check is made during normal driving, and the four-wheel drive is disengaged.
Possible causes
- Damaged control valve or axial solenoid
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test under normal driving to see whether it returns
- 2Check the connector at the control valve for oxidation, loose contacts and damage
- 3Check that the wires to the control valve are intact and not chafed
- 4If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment replace the control valve and the control module, as they are replaced as one unit
Symptoms you may notice2
- Four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive do not work
- Warning symbol and message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged
