What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) checks the signal from the oil pump and compares it with predefined limits. The code is stored when the signal falls outside them with the engine running, which here can be caused by the signal wire or the supply wire being shorted to voltage. A damaged connector or a damaged pump may also be behind it. The four-wheel drive is disengaged while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Supply wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged connector between the oil pressure pump and the four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
- Internal leakage in the oil pressure pump
- Damaged oil pressure pump
What you can do
- 1Read and erase the code, then road test to see whether it returns
- 2With the ignition on, listen whether the pump motor starts and runs normally; it should hum and vibrate slightly. If it starts and then stops again, the fault may be intermittent
- 3Check the connector between the pump and the control module for contact resistance, oxidation and damage
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires have no contact with battery voltage when they are disconnected at both ends
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pump, replace it if needed and calibrate the control module afterwards
Symptoms you may notice2
- The four-wheel drive does not work
- Warning symbol and message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- The four-wheel drive is disengaged while the fault is present
