DEM-P188919 - Oil Pressure Pump Performance. General Electrical Failures. Circuit current above threshold
System
Differential Electronic Module (DEM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The oil pressure pump for the four-wheel drive draws more current than it should. The current through the pump varies with oil temperature, and the four-wheel drive control module (DEM) sets the code when it detects that the current stays too high for a period. There are no noticeable symptoms for the driver, and the fault lies in the pump itself.
Possible causes
- Damaged oil pressure pump
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, note it and clear it. Test drive the vehicle to see if the fault returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the pump current in live data with the engine running and check whether the value follows the oil temperature
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the oil pressure pump and replace it if it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
