Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
The four-wheel drive control module (DEM) checks at start-up that the information stored in its memory is correct. The code is set when a checksum for the calibration data shows that the information is invalid. The check runs each time the ignition is switched on, and the fault lies in the control module.
Possible causes
- Internal error in the four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
- Damaged four-wheel drive control module (DEM)
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, note it and clear it. Switch the ignition on and see if the fault returns
- 2Check that the battery is in good condition and that the fuses are intact, since weak voltage can cause faults in control modules
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop replace the control module and calibrate it after the change
Symptoms you may notice2
- Four-wheel drive does not work
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Four-wheel drive is disengaged for as long as the fault is present
