What does this fault code mean?
At the factory, the four-wheel drive control module (DEM) is approved by activating a production flag in it. The code is set when this approval is missing, and four-wheel drive is then blocked. The fault lies in the status of the control module and cannot be fixed by ordinary fault-finding on the vehicle.
Possible causes
- The four-wheel drive control module did not receive its approval at the factory
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, note it and clear it. Test drive the vehicle to see if the fault returns
- 2Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 3Have a workshop check the status of the control module and calibrate or replace it if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice2
- Four-wheel drive does not work
- Warning symbol and text message in the display
What the fault can affect1
